Driftwood gathered from both Mount Desert Island and Great Gott Island in Maine is wrapped in yarn and thread and mounted on wood blocks. The rough found material is contrasted with precise detailing in bright colors.
Seascape Series
Inspired by the beauty of cold coastal Maine and the fictional Scottish landscapes drawn by Mairi Hedderwick for her Katie Morag childrens’ books. These weavings seek to capture the spirit of a lonely home caught between the sea and sky. Various gauges of wool, thread and cotton are mounted on thin slabs of wood.
